I myself made the same mistake of purchasing cheap breast pumps in the beginning. That's breast pump(s) with a plural. I went through three different pumps ranging from a manual pump to a double electric pump. I kick myself now! If I had only taken the money that I spend on all three crappy pumps and used it to purchase one nice top end breast pump, I probably would have been able to continue breastfeeding for longer. Unfortunately, my daughter was born 3 weeks early and severely jaundice. My milk supply did not come in fast enough, and I had to supplement with formula before they'd even let us leave the hospital. Once I started supplementing, my milk supply, which probably was never established to begin with, continued to diminish. A proper breast pump would have enabled me to build my supply. I learned my lesson, and when baby #2 comes along, I'll be ready!
